Italy to host Iranian Voice of Silence

TEHRAN, Aug. 18 (MNA) – Iranian feature film Voice of Silence will be showcased at 18th Religion Today Filmfestival in Italy.

Mohammad Hadi Naeiji's debut Voice of Silence will compete with 53 feature films from 27 countries around the world at 18th Religion Today Filmfestival in Italy.

The festival will also host 21 short and animation movies and 18 documentaries, including Iranian short film Sorahi, directed by Saeed Nejati.

Voice of Silence is a 2013 Iranian film written and directed by Mohammad Hadi Naeiji. The movie has won the Crystal Simorgh for Best Screenplay at the 32nd Fajr International Film Festival. It was produced by the award-winning writer and director Reza Mirkarimi, the director of A Cube of Sugar.

Voice of Silence narrates the story of a young cleric, Mir-Hashem, whose wife has left him because of his angry creditors and his fertility problems. One of the creditors persuades Mir-Hashem to go for propagation and get the money from people.

Since 1997, Religion Today has been the foremost international and itinerant film festival dedicated to Cinema and Religions for a culture of peace and dialogue between faiths, cultures, peoples and individuals.

It promotes a journey “exploring the differences”, both in religious practices and beliefs and in cinematic styles and languages, towards a mutual enrichment through reciprocal knowledge and comparison.

The festival will be held on October 9 in Terenten, a city in northern Italy and will wrap up on October 19.
